USAC Honda .25 Drivers Go To Hoosier Tire’s Newton Park

Ten races of the USAC Honda “Generation Next” Series have now been completed.  The “Little Hoosier 100” coined after the Annual USAC Silver Crown Hoosier 100 was held at Newton Park in Lakeville this weekend.     

Newton Park, built by Hoosier Racing Tire owners Bob and Joyce Newton, is a beautiful facility located just south of the Hoosier Tire plant.  The park hosts many events during the year including baseball tournaments, soccer tournaments, and holiday parades but none match the atmosphere of the Quarter Midget Racing event.  Over 185 cars were present this weekend and the road just to the west was lined with motor homes as far as you could see. 

The USAC Honda "Little Hoosier 100" was the last pavement event for the 2013 Generation Next Season for the .25 Midget Program.  “This race is always enjoyed by our families,” said Kyle McCain, Developmental Director.  “When available dates for this race fell after our Brickyard event, we decided to make it a ‘Wild Card’ to enable our participants to make up for another race they might have missed or one that maybe luck just didn’t follow them.  USAC Families appreciate the hospitality from the Hoosier Family and enjoy racing at Lakeville.” 

Rain delayed practice on Friday afternoon as it has for many events this season.  But drivers did make some laps after the storms passed.  Saturday racing was followed by a dinner hosted at the park and sponsored by Robbie Stanley Racing.  Sunday A Mains and Awards were completed by 3:00 so that families could start home.

In honor of the namesake “Hoosier 100”, two classes ran 100 lap main events.  Sam Kravitsky of PA (Heavy 160) and Ryan Repko of NC (Senior Honda) took home beautiful Oakley watches for their wins.  First, Second and Third place drivers were awarded the traditional USAC Gold, Silver or Bronze Medallions. 

Aaron Bollinger of PA took home 3 golds winning Light 160, Briggs Senior Animal, and Briggs Light World Formula.  Another Pennsylvania driver, Jake Nelke also won 3 events; Briggs Un-restricted Animal, Heavy World Formula and Heavy ‘AA.  Berklee Jimenez of Texas had a great weekend taking home 2 wins in the Light ‘AA and Mod Classes.  Justin Oplinger of NC (Junior Honda), Brandon Grosso of NJ (Heavy Honda), and Chase Randall of Texas (Briggs Junior Animal), were also winners. Tallis Wright – Red Rookie and Katelyn Hettinger – Blue Rookie took the checkered flag in their races but all Rookie Drivers took home Gold Medallions.

There are only 2 races left on the 2013 “Generation Next” schedule - at Hagerstown Speedway, Aug 9 - 11 and Eldora Speedway, Sept 20 - 22.
